Owning a Motorhome - Retirement

ARE YOU HEADING TOWARDS RETIREMENT?

Are you dreaming of the time when you will be able to get away from the existence that work routines impose upon most of us? Do you fancy a level of freedom that would allow you to go pretty much where you want when you want? Do you fancy a continuously changing background of sunny beaches and swimming in the warm water of the Mediterranean? Of quiet villages, of the beautiful mountain scenery of say the Alps or the Pyrenees, of magic cities or nearly anything else Europe has to offer? Greece, Turkey and a large part of even Eastern Europe could now be open to you and you could even spend the winter in the sun. Sounds fabulous doesn't it? Perhaps you've thought of buying a retirement home abroad but have been put off by some of the many T.V. programmes featuring people who have hit all sorts of problems and some who have lost their life's savings in the process. You'll have seen planning permission scandals, legal and not so legal swindles perpetrated on the unwary. Local builders who have starred in short cut building techniques. Plus local officialdom and red tape that can make sorting out even the simplest problem into a nightmare. Nobody could blame you for getting cold feet in this sort of situation. Apart from the finance, the other big problem about buying a retirement home is finding somewhere you're going to be happy to stay on a permanent basis. Many of us like particular spots for a short visit but living there year around may be a totally different proposition. Climate, seasons, crowds and facilities can all help to change a very suitable summer spot into a very bleak and dismal place to spend a winter. Why not plan to spend the very hot summer months nearer to home and the colder winter months much further south? After all with a slightly different approach you can aim to have the best of all seasons. There's also the matter of keeping your foot on the Irish property ladder so that you can return at any time that circumstances dictate. If you could find a way to solve all these problems and still own, not time share, the accommodation of your choice which could be located nearly anywhere in Europe: a moveable feast, wouldn't that sound too good to be true?
